A group of MPs from the majority and the opposition have traveled to the USA in recent days to be present at the "morning of prayers".

The deputies present were Gazment Bardhi, Pandeli Majko, Damian Gjiknuri, Blerina Gjylameti and Dhurata Çupi.

The group of deputies held meetings with several congressmen and senators, and the most important of them was the meeting with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gabriel Escobar.

Diplomatic sources told CNA that Mr. Escobar has been tough in his stance with Albanian MPs regarding the steps taken by the majority to set up an "Ad-Hoc" commission that would lead to the control of SPAK.

Mr. Escobar has called dangerous for democracy and wrong such actions that undermine the trust and progress of the new justice, so much supported and financed by the USA and European partners.

On January 17 and 18, CNA denounced the majority's attempt to establish an "Ad-Hoc" commission, under the direction of former minister Fatmir Xhafaj, which, allegedly in the name of the EU integration process, would control SPAK in order to keep under more pressure the institution, which is fighting corruption and has hot files under investigation for senior officials of the majority, Rama's ministers, etc.

Mr. Escobar's reaction comes after another strong public stance, made on the date by the Legal Counselor at the US Embassy, ??David Backman, who from Shkodra issued a rather strong message to the political class, stressing that SPAK should be preserved as jewel.

All the international factors have been on the same line, who seem worried by the recent actions of the majority, which is holding consecutive meetings, trying to set up a commission in the name of integration, but which basically has control over SPAK- ut.

Officials of the Socialist Party in the denunciation of the creation of this commission have responded with distorted statements. Eduart Shalsi, who is the deputy in charge of setting up the commission and who leads the working group of the majority, did not initially deny the control to SPAK, then accepted it and then rejected it.

On the other hand, sources from the SP told CNA that the control agenda towards SPAK continued with several meetings, the last one a few days ago, attended by Engjëll Agaçi, Minister of Justice Ulsi Manja, Klotilda Bushka, Ermonela Felaj, the former Minister of Justice, Etilda Gjonaj, the former Minister of the Interior, Fatmir Xhafaj, the former Deputy Minister of Justice Toni Gogu and the Minister of Anticorruption, Adea Pirdeni.

Meanwhile, an official source said that there are expected to be other meetings and developments , this after the head of the Laws Commission, Klotilda Bushka, has been tasked by the prime minister to prepare the draft for the establishment of the "Ad-Hoc" commission. Eduart Shalsi is the man who prepares the ground within the administration of the parliament.
