The Special Board of Appeal reinstated the prosecutor of Tirana, Genci Qana, overturning the decision of the Special Qualification Commission.

The decision was taken by the group with Sokol Çomo as the leader, Rezarta Schuetz as the relator, Albana Shtylla, Ina Rama and Natasha Mulaj as members.

We recall that Genci Qana was fired in March 2021 by the Independent Qualification Commission, which had doubts about some of his assets.

According to the financial analysis, Qana resulted in a negative balance of 1.4 million ALL for the period up to 2003 and with over 2 million ALL from 2003 to 2016.

The report showed that the KPK had not considered legal a loan of 5,000 euros and 730,000 lek withdrawn from bank accounts for the purchase of a car for 14,000 euros in 2012, creating a deficit of 1.7 million lek in legal sources.

Qano opposed the KPK and insisted on a recalculation based on the exchange rate. He claimed that the money had been converted into euros in the years before the purchase of the tangible goods.

Genci Qana started his career in the justice system in the 90s. He worked as a prosecutor of the Prosecution of Serious Crimes in the years 2003-2007 and a prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana in the years 2008-2020./ CNA
