Russian attacks in Ukraine / Two airports in Poland temporarily closed

Rzeszow and Lublin airports in southeastern Poland have been temporarily closed after Polish Air Force planes were scrambled due to Russian attacks in Ukraine. The Polish Air Navigation Service announced the news today in a post on the "X" platform.

On the other hand, the Armed Forces Operational Command said in a statement that it scrambled fighter jets in response to a possible Russian missile attack on Ukrainian territory.

"Due to the activity of Russian long-range air forces striking Ukrainian territory, the Air Force has launched operations in Polish airspace," the statement said.

The command noted that Polish fighter jets have launched operations and anti-aircraft systems and ground-based radar detection systems have been put on alert.

"These operations are preventive in nature and aim to ensure the security and protection of our airspace, especially in areas adjacent to threatened areas," it added.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said it is monitoring the situation and its forces remain ready to respond. /CNA
