The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declares that the unification of the Democratic Party was a necessary decision to protect the party from those who, according to him, aimed at its disappearance.

"The DP did not deserve to surrender to its enemies, and efforts for unity were more appropriate," said Berisha, emphasizing that even during the 333 days he spent under house arrest, he had a political project, which, according to him, would not change the outcome of the elections against Edi Rama.

He added that his battle was not simple, but a fight for the existence of the DP, accusing Prime Minister Rama and highlighting the intervention of George Soros' foundation in Albanian politics.

Berisha also emphasized that, even though he had the opportunity to re-establish a new political force, he could not accept that the DP would depart from the ideals and program of the Democrats.

"The efforts for unification were the most appropriate efforts and undoubtedly had a price, but I could never accept that the DP would transform into a party outside the ideals and program of the Democrats," Berisha said.

"Of course, my 333 days under house arrest were a very precious time and I was not without a project. I had a project, which I guarantee you that even if I implemented it, the opposition would not win an election with Edi Rama. But I would implement it, I had a project.

I don't think it was a mistake that we united, I don't think so. The union was, as you yourself saw, a response to that attempt to eliminate the DP by a bastard of the dictatorship's executioners, such as Edi Rama.

Edi Rama, after doing everything with George Soros to archive me in politics, then rushed to control the DP at all costs with the help of Soros' servants.

So, that battle was not a simple battle, it was a battle for the existence of the DP.

Sali Berisha had another path, to re-establish a new political force, but the DP never deserved that. The DP did not deserve to hand over this political force to its enemies. No.

Political terror against the opposition is not a moment of encouragement for citizens, on the contrary, it is a moment of terror for citizens and in this context, efforts for unity were the most appropriate efforts.
