Convict found dead at Prison Hospital Center

A convict was found dead today in the premises of the Prison Hospital Center. According to the official announcement of the General Directorate of Prisons, the citizen FQ, 47 years old, was being treated for mental health problems.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the 47-year-old was found hanged in the toilet of the accommodation room, at around 16:50.

During the period 2022–2026, he was hospitalized several times in the Prison Hospital, with the last hospitalization taking place on 28.05.2026.

The 47-year-old was sentenced in March 2007 to 25 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Murder in other aggravating circumstances."

Today, at the Prison Hospital Center (QSB), citizen FQ, 47 years old, sentenced to 25 years in prison by decision no. 53, dated 07.03.2007 of the Elbasan First Instance Court, final on 19.03.2007, for the criminal offense of "Murder in other qualifying circumstances", provided for by article 79/b/c-25 of the Criminal Code, was found dead.

The convict suffered from mental health problems and was diagnosed with schizophrenia, for which he was continuously monitored by the health services of the penitentiary system and treated with specialized medication. During the period 2022–2026, he was hospitalized several times in the Prison Hospital, while the last hospitalization was on 28.05.2026.

According to preliminary data, at around 16:50, he was found hanging himself in the toilet of his accommodation room, with a personal tool. Immediately after the finding, security and health personnel intervened without delay, but from the verifications carried out, it was determined that death had been instantaneous.

A few minutes before the incident, at 16:20, the convict was visited by health personnel. During the time interval until the moment of the finding, the police officer on duty carried out checks and monitoring according to the prescribed procedures.

The Agency for the Supervision of the Execution of Criminal Decisions, in cooperation with the Prosecution Office, is continuing to carry out all investigative actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the event.

The General Directorate of Prisons expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased and guarantees full cooperation with the responsible institutions for the full clarification of the case . /CNA
