Board decisions/ Gasoline price decreases, oil continues to increase

The Transparency Board, at its meeting today, decided to increase the price of oil and reduce the price of gasoline.

Specifically, retail gasoline will be sold at 175 lek per liter, while retail diesel will be sold at 195 lek per liter.

The new prices come into effect today starting at 3:30 PM.

 

Board Announcement

 

The Transparency Board on June 4, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:

The retail price of the by-product diesel of the SSH EN 590 standard shall not exceed 195 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 183 lek/liter.
The retail price of the by-product gasoline of the SSH EN standard shall not exceed 175 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 163 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board shall enter into force today, the 4th, at 15:30 and shall be valid until the next meeting of the Board, where the changes in the sales prices shall be reflected.
We draw the attention of every operator of the wholesale and retail sale of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity shall be decided.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.


EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act no. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On Excise Duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty rate shall be applied. Based on the implementation of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty rate shall be applied in full, 100%.
Diesel for fishing – the selling price of diesel for fishing, referred to Law 9975, date 28.07.2008 “On National Taxes”, in Article 9 “Exemptions from the payment of national taxes”, point 6 It is provided: …“Fishing vessels are exempt from paying the turnover tax and carbon tax. Also, referring to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, it is provided for the exemption from excise duties of fuel for fishing vessels, in the quantities, conditions and criteria specified in the Council of Ministers.
