Vu?i? confirms he will go to Montenegro for the EU-Western Balkans summit

Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? has confirmed that he will travel to Montenegro to attend the summit of the European Union and the Western Balkan countries.

"I am going to Montenegro. It is very important that I represent Serbia there," Vu?i? said during a joint press conference with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

This confirmation comes at a time of heightened tensions between Belgrade and Podgorica, as well as after the message from the Serbian intelligence service that Vu?i? should not go to Montenegro, due to security risks.

Vu?i? said he was aware of the announcement by the Serbian Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA), which advised him not to travel to Montenegro due to, as it was said, "hostile activity of foreign services and criminal clans" in that country.

He added that he will speak about other issues in Montenegro.

In a statement after the meeting with Costa, the Serbian president told the EU guest: "See you tonight in Montenegro, if I don't pose a hybrid threat."

A day earlier, 87 men were deported from Montenegro, after they had arrived on a charter flight from Belgrade the same day, on the grounds that they posed a "security risk", while Montenegrin media described the group as "Vu?i?'s informal security".

Radio Free Europe found that among them were supporters of Vu?i?'s Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), as well as people accused of attacks on anti-government protesters.

Montenegrin police have also seized a large banner from this group that came from Serbia with the inscription "Serbia wins", which the SNS uses at its rallies, but which has also been placed on many billboards in Serbia. /REL
