The Commission for Education and Public Information Media will hold a hearing today on dismissals and the use of public funds in the Albanian Public Radio and Television.

The opposition has requested that the general director of RTSH, Alfred Peza, go to the session to give an account.

But instead of Peza, the chairman of the RTSH Steering Council, Leka Bungo, and members of this Council will go to the Assembly.

Thus, Peza is avoiding responsibility and accountability, sending subordinates in his place to talk about mass layoffs and abuse of funds.

Regarding the dismissals, some employees saw it as reasonable to confront them in court, while more than 20 others filed a lawsuit in SPAK.

As CNA has also reported, the dismissed employees accuse Peza of breaching contracts and dismissals in violation of the law.

According to them, the dismissals were carried out without any legal basis and in violation of the Labor Code.

About the layoffs, former employees told CNA about two months ago that they would notify the embassies, the European Union and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

CNA has also denounced abuses at the 62nd Song Festival on Albanian Radio and Television.

CNA published documents showing how about 140 million Lek more had been spent compared to the previous edition, money for rental vehicles, money for competitive songs, payments for guests and scenography had been added.
