Erjola Muka, General Director of Policies and Development of Infrastructure and Territory, has revealed details of the project for the construction of the Vorë - Hani i Hoti railway.

Muka indicated that the railway will connect Albania with Montenegro, passing through Tuz and Podgodrica, and then going to Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana and Budapest.

"It is the only international line that the country has, let's say, for the transport of passengers and goods, since before the 90s.

It connects Albania with Montenegro through the Tuzi station to then continue to Podgorica and the connection with other capitals of that part of the Region such as Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana and even Budapest", she said.

The Vorë - Hani i Hoti railway will be electric and the trains on it will be able to move at a speed of up to 120 kilometers per hour.

The railway line is expected to consist of 12 stations, 12 bridges and a 320 meter long tunnel, and the journey to Vorë will take about 2 hours.

It will be 120 kilometers long, pass through seven municipalities and cross the Western Lowlands of Albania, from South to North. The railway connects the urban centers of Vora, Mamurras, Laç, Milot, Lezha, Shkodra and Koplik.

The railway is expected to be completed in 2030./ CNA
