Two days ago, the citizen with the initials AI was released from prison, who benefited from the criminal amnesty, but as soon as he got out of the Drenova prison, he stole a car and was arrested a day later.

The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, was asked about this case during his visit to Korça this Friday.

Balla gave a message to the amnestied convicts, as he said that it is in their best interest not to return to illegal activity.

The minister emphasized from Korça that all amnesties will be monitored in order to avoid criminal events.

"This is one of the sudden reasons for my visit to DVP Korcë. I take the opportunity to congratulate them for their immediate reaction, you know that amnesties are always welcome and the Albanian government proposed to the Assembly to take exactly such a step, but we know that in these cases, after the amnesties, there is the possibility to returned to their criminal activity. The case you mentioned is a person of the same criminal offense and did not resist the temptation. But this does not mean that the police do not have the proper vigilance and the entire operation to return him to the cell was done by DVP Korccë thanks to police intelligence and immediate actions. In this respect, I want to remind the people who have benefited from the amnesty that it is in their best interest not to take the warm hand of society through the amnesty as a weakness but as a message to return to a normal life away from criminal offenses. The State Police, in communication with the General Directorate of Prisons, is administering all the names of the persons who are beneficiaries and there will be a monitoring of each of them in order to avoid criminal events", underlined Balla./ CNA
