Tirana-Durrës/Karakaçi Highway: Lot 1 opens the first week of May,

The works being implemented on the first section of the Tirana-Durres highway up to the Rinas overpass are expected to be completed within the first week of May, fully opening it. During the inspection that the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Enea Karakaçi carried out this Thursday on this axis, emphasis was placed on the ongoing plans for this project but also a number of others related to it.

"Within the first week of May, this part of this segment will be fully opened. This axis has its importance for connecting the port of Durrës with Morina and for the connection between the North and the entrance to Tirana, but also for tourism. We must emphasize that in this segment we are working with several other projects such as the Tirana Bypass and the Kashar-Lekaj segment ," said Karakaçi.

The General Director of the Albanian Road Authority Ami Kozeli underlined that work on the other two projects, the Tirana Bypass and Kashar-Lekaj, is ongoing.

" We are currently in the first stages of two implementation contracts regarding the Tirana Bypass and are 20 percent complete, but it is expected to ease traffic. With its completion, traffic will be easier, but the works are still at the beginning, " said Kozeli.

The Minister, on the other hand, announced that work will continue on expanding other parts of the Tirana-Durres segment and the procedures related to them.

The head of the ARRSH brought to attention the project that is expected to be launched for the highway, called "Urban Design" and which aims at greenery, acoustics and lighting, while all pedestrian overpasses will be installed as they were. According to him, out of 5 overpasses, only 2 are in operation, but 5 of them will be completed since the expansion of the highway requires their deepening.

Another issue in focus is the Laknas and Rinas overpass, where it was emphasized that the works will continue and that the interruption of traffic on the highway will be limited to a length of only 200 meters in the third lane, thus not affecting general traffic. /Monitor
