The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, took the floor in the Assembly during discussions on the draft law on tourist ports.

Balla stated that tourism is the engine of Albania's sustainable development, has increased the number of employees, income and welfare.

Among other things, he stressed that Albania should follow the example of countries in the region such as Montenegro and Greece, by developing modern tourist ports.

Balla called on the opposition to vote in favor of the draft law and join the new tourism standards, because according to him, Albania is today a competitor in the regional tourism market.

Tourism is a very important issue. It is among those sectors that are today the engine of sustainable development of our Albania, and as far as tourism is concerned, as a very successful story of the Albanian economy because tourism has brought us 5 things. In Albania today, compared to 2013, we have somewhere more than 4 times more tourists than we had in 2013. If together with our Kosovar brothers and those of North Macedonia or Presevo, there were somewhere around 3 million tourists, last year we recorded over 12 million.

Second, tourism brings more jobs. Today the number of employees in the tourism sector, third, it brings more income, fourth, it brings more welfare and fifth, for those who shout "they are leaving, they are leaving", today Albania has an offer for the diaspora to return.
