"Albania without oil reserves"/ Bozdo: Transparency Board, observer of

Democratic Party MP Eno Bozdo spoke in the Assembly during the discussion on the draft law proposed by the opposition regarding the price of oil. Bozdo stated that the draft law proposed by the opposition aims to reduce taxes that burden the price of oil for citizens.

Among other things, the MP also spoke about the Transparency Board, which he said only monitors the increase in oil prices but does not take measures to reduce them.

"Oil reserves are supposed to last 90 days, but they are for 0 days. The draft law we have proposed aims to reduce taxes that burden the price of oil for citizens. If we eliminate taxes, we can compete with North Macedonia and Kosovo. Another mechanism that the draft law proposes is that any excess VAT as a result of the increase in fuel prices automatically goes to reduce excise duty.

For 45 lek, the government pockets 90 lek per liter, which only goes to inflate the government's coffers, not to the economy of Albanian families. This draft law, aligned with EU directives, is what we need and provides a concrete solution to the situation. We are alone in the region and Europe that we have not taken any measures to increase prices. Albanians today pay the 13th most expensive oil in the world. The government today offers the Transparency Board that only monitors the increase. The mechanism proposed by us protects the citizen. 50 thousand farmers were excluded from the increase in oil. Let's adopt this draft law to help Albanian families cope with the crisis", said Bozdo. /CNA
