Tourism in the Southeast every year has experienced a high increase in accommodation places, guesthouses, restaurants as well as the flow of local and foreign visitors. But in addition to the tourist assets that this region has, including the tourist villages, the cultural and historical assets are also receiving a great development. In the municipality of Pustec, although a small municipality with a minority population, tourism is developing day by day, while the tourist season after the pandemic has suffered a surge.

In the next report for CNA TV viewers, we will bring a very special character who has created a museum right in Pustec. He is the history-geography teacher at the school in Liqenas, Spase Tërpo, who has turned the old family home into a very interesting museum that includes different historical periods and highlights the tradition of the area.

Spase Tërpo has been working as a teacher in the area for 17 years, a profession that is so dear to him and with a great passion for the country's history. In this interview, he tells how the idea arose to turn his grandparents' apartment into a historical museum, with values ??and traditions of the Pustec area, including hundreds of old objects and documents from the 19th century to the present day. .

"I have been a teacher at the United Lakes School for about 17 years, where I teach history and geography, and I have worked almost all the time in our area, and my idea for creating such a museum came from the fact that my family was a old family of the area, had collected many old things, especially my grandfather and grandmother. Seeing that one day our area would also develop because tourism is the basic branch today where we can have higher income, I decided to organize things in part of my house."

The start of this very interesting project has been difficult for Spasa and his family members, who have preserved the old buildings with such care for years. His mother and aunt have taken care that these objects are not damaged and today they are part of this museum to tell a lot of the history of the Pustec area, as well as of the Albanian state.

"The beginning is always difficult, but the initiation was precisely from some groups of tourists who passed through my area. At that time, my grandfather lived and stood outside the house and tourists approached him and talked to him. I thought why not turn the old house into something interesting where they can see something of value that we have in our area. That's how we started as a journey. Then with the help of mom, aunt, we gathered things at the beginning, to see what we have and what is missing, and to this day we continue to we deal with this work. It's definitely tiring work because you can't find many things, you have to look for them in other villages, but we try, sometimes we even buy them."

The two-story building used to be the home where members of the Tërpo family lived, and Spasja decided to divide it into 3 rooms, each with a different purpose.

In the first room, he has introduced a series of objects, starting from folk clothing, work tools, dishes of that time, while the reason for placing these objects inside a room remains one of the most special but also the most identifying for that time.

"This mini museum consists of 3 parts/rooms where we start from the oldest room that belongs to the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. I improvised it in a separate room, with all the objects, objects, dishes, tools of work, clothing of that time, in one place because our ancestors at that time lived in one room and kept everything inside that room. They made bread, ate, slept, washed, worked wool and all in turn, and this is precisely the first room where most of the objects are located."

Spasja says that all the things placed inside this room have their own history and value, so it is very difficult for him to separate them. In this room, the black color predominates, which represents the aggressive policy during the period of the Ottoman occupation, also due to the fact that the people of Pustec did not change their faith during this time, continuing to keep the Orthodox faith.

"In my opinion, all things are special. Every object found here has its own history and value, so I have not separated who is the most special and different from other objects. Every person who comes, especially foreigners, are very enthusiastic to see this piece and think they have a lot of value. The end of the 19th century, and the beginning of the 20th century, when we were under the occupation of the Ottoman empire, and as you can see the color that dominates here it is black because even in our area the Ottomans followed an aggressive policy, with murders. Plus we as an area did not change our faith, we continued to be Christians and this was something that caused the population here to be sacrificed. According to some the data suggests that the color black is dominant for this fact."

The museum of teacher Tërpo has been open for 7 years and continues to be worked on today to further expand it as a project. Many foreign tourists choose to visit Pustec and this particular museum. The teacher's goal is to turn this area into a destination not only for natural assets, but also for cultural ones.

"It's been 7 years since I opened this project more seriously and I've always had visitors. Only the part of the pandemic period had fewer visitors, but actually I made the museum as a hobby and visitors are definitely welcome. Most of theirs have been foreigners, dominated by the Dutch, Belgians, English, Germans, who are very interested and even leave with kind words. I hope that in the future I will also try to do something more, expand this as a project because we want our area to turn into an area with great values, not only natural but also cultural, and to be one of the most visited areas of the Korca district."

Spase Tërpo cares down to the last detail about the preservation of the great values ??that the Pustec area has, and thanks to the cooperation with the residents of the villages in this municipality, he has been able to create one of the most beautiful museums in the southeast. Through this report, CNA TV suggests you not to miss the opportunity to visit the museum up close, while the phone number of the teacher Spase Tërpo was made available to enable your visit there./ CNA
