"The passion has always been, since my childhood, the song mainly. The guitar was not my passion, but I needed it to accompany myself and I was forced to learn it. I learned it myself, I got the first aid from my first cousin who he is a guitarist, despite the fact that he is now old and does not deal with that part. I encouraged him for the guitar, then I continued it myself. The guitar became part along with the song."

For the well-known korçar, the serenade is the third pillar of korçar music, alongside the folk and civic songs represented by the Lira Choir. To sing a serenade is to accept the beautiful, and that's exactly where the value is, says Tom.

"The serenade is very beautiful. The serenade is not actually ours, it's influences, but the most positive thing was that the serenade at that time, you could go out on the streets and sing it as you wanted. Borrowings are everywhere in the world, which is beautiful , it is liked. We managed to capture it, like it and put it, and it is one of the third pillars of Korça music. We have the folk, Korça civic music, "Korin Lira" and the serenade. This is the third leg of Korça music and it is a evolution, since the people who liked the serenade have liked and accepted the beautiful. That's where the value is. There were others who serenaded, today it's degenerating."

The 65-year-old regretfully says that nowadays the serenade has lost its value and originality. He considers the serenade two guitars on the road, singing sweetly and conveying emotion. But what has influenced the transformation of this musical trend?

"The serenade today is not a serenade. The serenade was called two guitars on the road, sweet, and conveying emotion. Today the rhythm came out, and all the serenades, even those that were serenades, were channeled into the rhythm system of the computer. The emotion was lost, what was sung too slowly, too sweetly, too beautifully, got into a rhythm that has nothing in common. This is a mistake we don't keep, others put it in while we don't know how to keep it."

The elderly sing the serenade as it has been tradition, not changing the songs and not going out of character. Tom has never preferred to be a part of organized activities, he even says that he never becomes a part of organizations, but "meetings" with society happen completely by chance.

"You don't have to change them, it's no longer a serenade because it's out of character. If you take old men older than me, they sing it like they used to sing the serenade. If you put them in computers, they're gone. I'd rather follow them rather than the rhythm determined by the computer, without motive or emotion. We don't get organized. I go out and do what I want, not what others want. I've sung everywhere, in every club in Korça. I don't participate in activities, I don't likes organizations."

Being at a table with Tomi Kondakçi is a great pleasure, not only with various conversations and discussions, but also by singing and getting strong emotions from what the wonderful voice of the Korcar singers, and especially Tom, conveys. . "I have had many such stories, it depends on how much room you leave in your soul. Someone says that I'm just with Tom and let's do something. Every person sings with me, I'll leave room for him to sing. The goal is to stay there where it should be. Whether I know it or not, it doesn't matter because I help him, but the thing is for what was to be as it was. Everyone should do this, there are many elders who preserve that form."

"My life as it was, is. We talk about time, man in time is worthless. How much you experience in yourself, that is time. You can suffer a lot but you experience a lot inside yourself and this is part of the soul. If you don't you have the soul inside, you have the past. If you have the soul, it fills an empty space."

For Korça, it is lucky to have such a special and beloved character, as Tomi Kondakçi also contributes to teaching the guitar to younger generations. There are many children who want to learn the guitar and this is something very positive for the future. However, the 65-year-old seems a little skeptical, as long as technology is taking the biggest place even in the creation of the song. He says that music is not born just because we want to make music. For him, music is feeling!

"There are young people, they have the desire and this is a good thing. But this, with the technology that came out, we are moving away from music. We listen to a beautiful concert in Vienna for example, they have been preserving the form of the orchestra for hundreds of years been. And they don't change, they introduce techno. Do they have a hard time? Absolutely! They are masters, but they protect the creators and the creatures who continue this work. Music is not born because we want to make music, music is a feeling. I sat for 5 minutes , he wrote it, that's what it is. It's bullying, but who are you bullying? Emotion is also the mistake you make while singing, that's how it really is, but we accept that."
