A fisherman from the area of ??Udënisht in Pogradec has managed to catch a koran fish weighing more than 13 kg in the waters of Lake Ohrid. This is a rare event, as it is the first time that a Koran of this weight falls into the net.

For years, Ylli Jaçellari has been practicing artisanal fishing in the lake, but he has never managed to get a fish of this weight out of the lake.

He says that when he saw the fish, he wasn't sure if it was that big, but he only saw it when it came to the surface.

"13 kg and 200 grams, this is the largest and currently the largest that has appeared in Lake Ohrid.

Pulling the nets, I see something big, but I was not convinced that it was such a big koran fish. Only when it came to the surface of the water, then I saw that it was Koran and it was my risk that I managed to put it in the boat", said the fisherman.

The 45-year-old says that the Koran did not try to escape and considers this rare catch in the lake as his luck. The biggest weight they have caught during the years of activity has reached up to 9 kg, while it was unbelievable that the Koran weighed 13.2 kg.

"He didn't try to escape at all, I don't know, but it was my fate that he should enter the boat. We got 8 kg and 9 kg, but not up to 13 kg. With this kind of hunting that we do, maybe with another kind with thicker nets it is possible. It was 300 meters from the coast, here in the area of ??Udënishti", said the fisherman.

Jacellari says that he sold the fish for a value of about 200 thousand old lek, showing the epithet that this type of Koran has in the language of fishermen.
