"A claim has been made publicly about communication with Berber"/

Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi, through a status on social networks, has denied any speculation linking him to the former director of the Albanian Anti-Corruption Agency (ARA), Evis Berberi.

Këlliçi writes that the facts are clear and the first protest at the Municipality of Tirana began on April 5, 2024. A period during which, Këlliçi says, Berberi was arrested and did not have access to free communications.

Further, the democrat says that it is objectively impossible that there was any communication between him and Berber.

Këlliçi writes that he is not an instrument in propaganda and political wars and has stated that he will treat this issue legally as defamation.

At the height of the investigations into the alleged Rama-Balluku corruption affair, a false claim was made publicly that there were communications between me and the former director of the ARRSH, Evis Berberi, regarding the organization of protests in front of Tirana City Hall.

The facts are clear and publicly verifiable: The first protest in front of the City Hall took place on April 5, 2024, after the arrest of the directors of 5D on March 28, 2024, while Evis Berberi has been arrested and in detention since March 14, 2024, under the limited communication regime according to the Criminal Procedure Code and the detention regulation.

During this period, he did not have access to free telephone, electronic communications or physical meetings, except for those authorized and officially documented.

Therefore, it is objectively and legally impossible for such communication to have existed.

Any simple official investigation by SPAK or any investigative media can easily verify communications logs, meeting authorizations, as well as detention contact protocols and ascertain not only the lack of communication, but also the physical and legal impossibility of its occurrence.

Personally, I am not part of any party's internal conflicts, I do not use intermediate communication channels, and I am not an instrument in political or propaganda wars.

For this reason, I will not treat this issue as a public debate, but as intentional defamation, which I will pursue legally according to the articles of the Criminal Code.

I invite any serious media outlet, investigative journalist, or institution to shed light on the facts and publish any alleged communication, if it exists.

This issue is not simply an attempt at personal smearing. It is a symptom of a political culture that has built the system on slander, not on evidence. On filth, not on transparency and the law.

I am not here to feed this culture, but to challenge it, with facts, with standards, and with public responsibility. This is the terrain where I choose to do politics and fight.
