Berisha delivers message from Brazil: Time to review how to protect our values

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, shared today his first speech after his election as Vice President of the CDI, the world's largest union of right-wing parties.

In his speech at the CDI Assembly in Brazil, Berisha highlighted his political journey during his years at the helm of the Albanian Democrats.

Berisha stated that his entire career has been guided by the fight against dictatorships, from the communism of the first years of democracy, to what he defines as an authoritarian dictatorship and a mobocracy linked to narcotics structures.

Berisha's full speech:

Thank you Mr. President. I am very, very honored by the trust you have given me. My strength in life is the fight against dictatorships. I fought against the communist dictatorship, and now I fight against an authoritarian dictatorship.

Mr. President, many, many years ago, while reading Samuel Huntington, I discovered that of all forms of dictatorship, the worst is mobocracy, the establishment of a narco-dictatorship, because they follow neither rules nor laws, and we face the same thing today.

I take this opportunity to assure you that with your help, our friends, we will do our best. Whatever is needed for my nation to be free and to re-establish the rule of law, human rights, democracy.

I would like to conclude, Mr. President, that in my experience I think that when I look back to the 1990s, our big problem was the attitude towards the extreme left. The extreme left represents today the greatest threat, perhaps to all of humanity. The extreme left is not as it was before, concentrated in Marxist-Leninist groups or parties. It is now spread, unfortunately, very widely in civil societies sponsored by George Soros. It is very widely spread in the media controlled by them and the left is paying the price, and they deserve to pay the price.

Of course, we are also paying the price. We do not deserve it! However, I think it is time for us to reconsider how to defend our values ??from the extreme left ideology, which aims to destroy human identity. If Marxism were primarily about property and creating a new humanity, the extreme left would mean the destruction of human identity. So, I am very optimistic that the CDI will lead. Our efforts, are the efforts of free people to secure and defend the values ??we share for human freedoms. /CNA
