"Government corrupt to the core"/ Hoti: The 2026 draft budget is not for the citizens, but for the government officials

Democratic MP Elda Hoti said today that the 2026 draft budget is not for citizens, but for government officials.

In her speech in the Assembly, Hoti said that the projected budget does not focus on health, education, or pensions, as a result of the influence of a deeply corrupt government.

 "While the opposition mentioned the case of the assassination attempt near Rinas, Minister Koçiu continued to talk and laugh in place. Instead of taking responsibility, the lady mocks and gives even more support, especially to organized crime. Today should have been an important day because the 2026 budget is being discussed. It should have been, but it is not. This is how Albanian citizens' money is being distributed. This is the reality of a government that is corrupt to the core and this majority talks about the largest budget, while the Albanian budget is lower than ever. There was no talk about oncology patients, education, pensioners. You are no different from each other. This is not a budget for citizens, but for government officials," Hoti said. /CNA
