A money changer in Durrës lost 60 thousand euros after being defrauded through an organized scheme, where the perpetrator presented himself as a relative of a well-known businessman.

According to preliminary data, a person identified as Florian Gjergji is suspected of having contacted the money changer through messages, introducing himself as the cousin of a businessman with whom he had social acquaintances.

The money changer was then asked for the sum of 60 thousand euros, which were handed over to a person sent to a shopping mall, according to the instructions given in the electronic communication. After receiving the money, the person immediately left the scene.

According to reports, the money was then transported to Elbasan, where it is suspected that it was delivered to another person involved in the scheme.

The police have identified and escorted two people suspected of involvement in this case, who during preliminary statements have claimed that they acted according to instructions given by the suspected organizer.

The incident was reported by the money changer himself, who after handing over the amount, contacted his friend and realized that he had been scammed, as there was no real request for the money.
