Rama to Dutch newspaper: EU membership without veto right, we need a stronger

Prime Minister Edi Rama has given an interview to the Dutch newspaper "Volkskrant".

In the interview, Rama emphasized his position regarding integration, that Albania aims for EU membership without the right of veto.

Rama stated that to stand firm among all the new rising powers and the new balance, a stronger Europe is needed, and consequently a greater Europe.

"We want to become stronger together and, to achieve this, we are willing to give up things that you see as complicated. Therefore, we do not need it, we will never vote against the majority and we do not need our commissioner."

I really learned a lot from him. The value of patience, for example. And thanks to him, I also understand the complexities of Europe much better. For example, I now know that where for others one exam is enough, with you Dutch people you have to pass at least three.

 This is why the answer to the rapidly changing world order must always be more Europe. Never less Europe. If we want to stand tall among all these new rising powers and be part of the new balance, we need a stronger Europe, and therefore a bigger Europe. It is crazy that some people think that countries become stronger after leaving Europe; complete absurdity”, said Rama. /CNA
