"Fiscal peace does not discriminate against anyone"/ Malaj: 7 billion lek damage from the exchange rate drop

Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, stated today that Fiscal Peace will bring benefits to all taxpayers, as it is an agreement that does not discriminate against anyone.

"The opposition asked what are the benefits of fiscal peace. Fiscal peace does not discriminate against anyone. It is a voluntary agreement for all taxpayers, who can enter into an agreement or relationship with the tax authorities, for the correction of financial statements, or even for declaration or re-declaration. It does not offer any amnesty for persons under tax investigation. There are also individuals who are sanctioned by law and do not benefit from fiscal peace," Malaj said.

In his speech at this Wednesday's plenary session, Malaj also addressed a concern about Albanian finances, stating that the fall in the foreign exchange rate has caused a loss of 7 billion lek.

"The exchange rate is traded in the free market. The government cannot intervene. The Bank of Albania intervenes and makes adjustments. It favors but also penalizes the receipt of customs revenue. The effects of the exchange rate decline have caused a damage of 7 billion lek. This is because sometimes imported products come at cheaper prices," Malaj said. /CNA
