From agriculture to infrastructure and digitalization/ Malaj: Here's how

Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, has provided details in the Parliament on how much money is expected to be allocated from the 2026 budget for agriculture, food security, infrastructure, energy and digitalization. During his speech, Malaj also shared the priorities for each sector and where investments will be focused.

"Agriculture will benefit 16.3 billion lek in 2026. The main priorities that are expected to be financed are the national farmers' scheme and oil subsidies. In the 2026 budget draft, the fiscal package foresees that farmers will benefit about 15 million euros from the VAT compensation scheme. In food safety, the aim is to strengthen the control and inspection system, including the entire food chain. Regarding the management of irrigation and drainage infrastructure, the focus will be on the rehabilitation of irrigation canals and investments in flood protection infrastructure. Expenditures on infrastructure and energy are expected to amount to 78.3 billion lek. The most important projects are road maintenance, financing of the Elbasan-Lekaj road, expansion of the Tirana-Durrës and Berat-Ballabanë highways, construction of the Saranda bypass, expansion of Elbasan-Qafë Thanë, rehabilitation of the Vlorë-Hani railway line Hotit and Durrës-Rrogozhinë. 18.9 billion lek will be allocated for digitalization from the 2026 draft budget ," said Malaj. /CNA
