Yesterday, the parliamentary session took place, but all the attention was taken by the questions to the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani and his answers.

After Duman's report, the follow-up of parliamentary proceedings was low, but what has caught the eye is the attitude of the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, against Fatmir Xhafaj.

Xhafaj, known as the last Enverist, attacked SPAK and openly asked to hit this institution of justice with reforms. ( Read here )

"Criminal justice cannot be a matter of numbers or a competition of statistics within the system. Justice does not judge or punish based on perception, nor on political preferences, nor on the tastes of media portals, influenced by them, but on facts and evidence. Political populism is harmful, but judicial populism is even more harmful. I want to remind you of the responsibility that the Assembly has to reflect on the problems and to propose solutions, not through hermetic tables, but through a comprehensive, transparent and professional process that at the center of this debate should be the people of justice themselves", Xhafaj said. 

But on the other hand, the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, has gone against his colleague and former Minister of the Interior, Fatmir Xhafaj, supporting SPAK without reservations.  ( Read here )

Manja refuted the theses of Xhafaj and some individuals of Xhafaj within the majority that SPAK is attacking with statistics, without facts and without evidence.

"SPAK, today with the results and records it has, in the fight against corruption and organized crime, is a model that will have to be extended to the rest of the justice system, because justice will have to be seen 360 degrees and the mentality, culture , the correctness in the implementation of the law, that today, that body of prosecutors and investigators have raised hope for the Albanians will have to be extended over the rest of the system", declared the Minister of Justice, among other things.

In fact, until now the statistics reported by Dumani himself show that SPAK has the minimum number of arrested persons and all the facts, evidence and decisions taken regarding the arrests are by court decision, that is, they refute any claim of the last Enverist and of the disaffected group.

Today, the US embassy also came out in favor of Ulsi Manjë, which reiterated its support for SPAK.  ( Read here )
