The Prisons Commission, gathered on Saturday afternoon, decided to approve the permit for Fredin Beler after the latter's request to participate in the first meeting of the European Parliament, after the June 9 elections.
Beleri will be present at the session to be sworn in as a Greek MEP from the New Democracy party, led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, part of the EPP grouping.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Prisons has taken all measures to escort Beler to Strasbourg. The former elected mayor of Himara Municipality had requested five days leave, a request which was approved after two meetings of the commission. The leave starts on Sunday, while Beleri will be sworn in on Monday./CNA
