Himara will vote on August 4 in the partial elections for the new head of the municipality, which comes after the CEC's decision to declare Fredi Beleri's mandate invalid, as the latter is in prison, accused of active corruption, committed in cooperation in the 2023 elections.

The united opposition has already presented its candidate, Petro Gjikuria, who has also started the electoral campaign.

In the first meeting in the Himara-Fshat area, the head of PBDNJ, Vangjel Dule, was also present.

In his speech, Gjikuria said that he will implement Fredi Beleri's program, while there was also communication in the Greek language.

"They also say that Fred is not with me, it's a big lie, the presence of Petro Beler proves the opposite. I will implement Fredi Beller's program.

Today, Himara has its MEP and on August 4, it will also have its mayor. Himare Municipality has no more time to waste. For years, our country has lagged behind as the world progresses. A country with hardworking people who have excelled everywhere. Today it is not even worthy of its citizens. For 12 years we had a party mayor. A president who stayed too long to change too little. Fredi Beleri found himself behind bars on fabricated charges. The government changes mayors and threatens them with imprisonment if they don't do what they are told. These are puppets with no ability to solve problems. I remember when Beleri ran for the first time in 2015, where I was and I voted. I remember when in 2019 they didn't allow it. "I remember years ago how angry I was about his arrest and how happy I was when he was elected mayor," he said.
