Berisha: Rama's abuses turned tourist assets into a curse for Albanians
The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, accused the government of tourism, during his speech at the night protest on "Mustafa Matohiti" street.

Berisha said that the government of Edi Rama has turned the fabulous tourist assets into a curse for Albanians.

"Dear friends, whoever knows this country, finds that the most fabulous wealth of this country after people are the coasts, mountains, hills, lakes. They are his tourist trails. In this regard, I don't know of any other country that can be compared to Albania.

I don't know any other country whose coasts have been compared to the Maldives of Europe, whose Alps have been called the Himalayas of Europe. And yet, my friends, with the greatest pain, with the deepest sadness, I have to tell you that tourism, the fabulous tourist wealth, is today a real curse for Albanians. And please, listen to me, what drives me, what motive drives me to make such a statement. I guarantee and swear to you, that apart from your interest as a citizen, nothing else.

These days, the narco-officials headed by Edi Rama have rushed with fury against 'disinformation', the hostile activities of foreign services to sabotage tourism. Today, the citizens of Vlonia were publicly accused that they are to blame for the prices, etc., etc. Dear citizens, I will prove to you tonight with the data of this government how the terrible thefts, how the wastes and abuses of Edi Rama and the narco-governments turned this fabulous wealth of the Albanians into a curse for you", he said. he.

Berisha calculated Albania's benefits from tourism, while declaring that every Albanian citizen has benefited only 4 euros.

"Edi Rama and his tourist televisions, from morning until dinner, trumpeted that last year they received 10.1 million tourists. However, the statistics of the narco-government of Edi Rama say that in 109 thousand tourist beds in Albania, a total of 6 million nights of sleep were recorded.

So, my friends, with this calculation, every tourist slept in Albania for two hours more than half the night, or one hour more than half the night. Out of 10 million, there are 6 million nights. Excuse me, I'm not going far, neither to Spain, nor to Italy, France or any other country, but I'm stopping here in Montenegro, 100 or so kilometers from here. Last year, this country registered 2.6 million arrivals in Montenegro. And it has recorded 16.3 million nights of sleep.

So, the tourist in Montenegro, 180 kilometers from Tirana, recorded 2.6 million, 16.3 million nights, or 6.2 nights per tourist. So, my friends, it has registered more than 10 times the number of nights for tourists in Albania. So, the citizen of Montenegro has benefited from the taxes of these overnight stays, 10 times more than the citizen of Albania. 10 times more, but I'm taking the data as is.

Where did these go? That all these 10 times less for the Albanians then, went to the bank accounts of Edi Rama's clients, the governors, but not to the taxes that should be returned to the budget for education, health, salaries, pensions.

We continue with this analysis, Edi Rama has turned this sector into a curse for the citizens. But why? In 2022, the Ministry of Finance, with invoices, finds that out of 7.2 million tourists, their overnight stays in Albania cost 140 million euros.

Of which 8.5 million were paid as VAT at 6 percent, which is their VAT, for all Albanian citizens. So, out of 7.2 million tourists, 8.5 million have been allocated. If we remove the VAT credit, it falls to 8 million.

So, my friends, in this fabulous wealth, every citizen of this country, except for those who own hotels and motels, has benefited 4 euros. If we have benefited a total of 8 million euros as a nation and 4 euros per person, we have spent from the budget money, from your taxes, we have invested in the tourist resorts of Edi Rama's clans, 430 million euros per year", emphasized the head of the PD. -s./ CNA
