Murrizi mentioned him for the reformation of the DP/ Sula: I did not choose to

Democratic MP Dashnor Sula reacted today on social media regarding a position by former MP Myslim Murrizi regarding the reformation of the Democratic Party.

Through a post on social media, Sula expresses surprise that Murrizi mentioned this issue and in a long response emphasizes his continuous efforts for the DP since the moment he entered the Assembly as a representative of this political party.

Sula, among other things, emphasizes his stance towards Lulzim Basha at the time when the latter led the DP, for whom he states that he took office with Berisha's 'blessing'.

"I would not have understood at any moment that my colleague Myslim Murrizi was referring to me in his post on social networks if he had not mentioned my name, as I and several other democratic colleagues are seeking the reformation of the Democratic Party with the sole purpose: So that in 2027 and 2029 we do not end up as a third force, but become a governing alternative."

To Murriz, but also to anyone else who, due to the dynamism of life, forgets, intentionally or unintentionally, what happened in the past, I want to remind them that at no point have I chosen to stand in line for my personal interests. But I have sworn since I first entered Parliament that I belong to those who have trusted me.

I started speaking out very early, even though it wasn't in my best interest. In 2007, I didn't blindly stand in line to accept the "ultimatum" to bring to the presidency a politician whom we had been opposing in the elections until two years ago.

I have raised my voice in party forums, parliamentary groups and everywhere, strongly opposing the majority-opposition "marriage" before the hairs of the Gërdec people have dried. Everyone knows this very well, especially those in politics.

In 2008, even Mr. Murrizi knows very well that I did not choose to hide like an ostrich to guarantee another mandate in Parliament, but I was among the few who came out against the amendment to the Electoral Code that was the first step in cementing the two main party forces and "suffocating" the small parties (the first attack on democracy). I was a DP MP at the time and in a way I was not affected by the changes, but I did not remain silent, I reacted and voted against.

If you want, look at the minutes of the Investigative Committee for January 21, 2011, you will read how critical I was at that time towards my party and I even insisted that the "umbrella weapons" claimed by my party be presented to the committee. I also opposed the "crazy" ideas that spoke of hanging the leader of the opposition at the time in front of the prime minister. I am talking about the proposal of the two ladies "Palma de M...a"

I have not been in Parliament, but of course, in my capacity, I have reacted to the collective madness of burning mandates and exiting the system. The cause that has brought the DP to this state. The changes to the Electoral Code made by today's majority with the help of "KËRPËRAT", removing the possibility of pre-election coalitions with separate lists as it was before, have been the greatest gift that this majority has received from those who burned mandates and the kËrpËrats that entered parliament later. If those changes had not been made to the electoral law, the DP would have won the elections in 2021.

I was among the first to ask Lulzim Basha to resign in his office after losing the elections in 2021. If it were for personal interest, I would not have asked Mr. Basha, since he practically put me on the winning list in 2021, but by putting the interests of the Democrats first, I asked him to be responsible.

I also publicly asked Mr. Berisha not to support Basha. Basha's reconfirmation as head of the DP after losing the elections was made possible with Berisha's "blessing".

I opposed Basha for his unilateral decision-making towards Mr. Berisha, although at that time I chose to side with the party logo and not with individuals.

I have sought in party forums the artificial unity among Democrats.

Once again in July 2024, I alone voted against the changes to the Electoral Code that also harmed you, Mr. Murrizi. I also warned of the catastrophic result that we would get as a result of this code, a bargain product.

I opposed the primaries, saying that the DP was not in a position to hold them. However, I obeyed the majority, entered the primaries and came out first, while on the day of the primaries I was in Malta meeting compatriots for the diaspora vote.

I might be criticized as a democrat who opposes too much and doesn't get in line, but it's not because I haven't reacted.

However, Mr. Murrizi, I think we need to deal with the essence of what is required for the revitalization of the Democratic Party and not why now and why not sooner or why later.

Mr. Murrizi and I may have the opportunity to take a day off in August or any other month of the year, but democrats, Albanians, do not want a one-party state or an opposition that "goes against the wind" more than a 12-year majority, which is being formed with two parliamentary groups; one outside and one inside the bars", said Sula./CNA
