The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said in a media conference that tourism is the government's biggest failure.

Berisha declared that the real cause of the decline in tourism is the euro, which he called the narcoeuro.

The fall of the euro, Berisha said, also brought a decline in the number of tourists, severely hitting the sector.

"In addition, I am before you on a major issue for the country. Tourism is the most spectacular economic failure of the Albanian narco-state. The narco-euro is the true toxin of Albania's economy and tourism. The country's tourist potential is extraordinary. The banks of its rivers, seas and lakes are fabulous assets.

From 2005 to 2012, after the construction of road and digital infrastructure, the number of tourists increased from 300 thousand in 2005 to 4 million 700 thousand. The number of tourists has continued to increase indisputably. In the last 2-3 years, a number of 10 million has been presented, which is a real fraud because it includes all Albanian and regional passengers of Easy Jet, Ryanair and Rinas airlines. But despite this huge fraud, the number of tourists has undeniably increased. However, last year marked a drastic decrease in tourists on the coasts, beaches, seas and lakes of Albania.

This drastic decline continued this year even deeper. The cause of this decline, in the most incredible, but also dishonest and undignified way, is hidden by the narco-government, hidden by the narco-government media, hidden by the country's economists, the country's media and tourist operators. Whether they do this out of ignorance or out of fear and the mafia code, I cannot say.

But I tell you with full responsibility that the major cause of this dramatic decline is the narco-euro. The narco-euro is the real toxin of tourism. The narco-euro is the real toxin of the Albanian economy.

It is unimaginable how in the code of silence, this is not told to Albanians. The fall in the value of the euro by 35 percent, the fall in the value of the dollar by 35 percent, a rapid fall and its installation at this level, caused the tourist who previously bought certain services and goods with 100 euros, a year later had to spend 135 euros in Albania. To hide this, you become an accomplice in a crime.

"So, once again, the devaluation of the European and American currency in Albania by the containers of euros and dollars of Albanian drug traffickers, the devaluation of 35 percent, hit tourism in the most brutal way, as every tourist in Albania had to spend 35 more euros on the same expenses, the same purchases," Berisha said./ CNA
