The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, presented the political program of this political force at the National Assembly of the Democratic Party, stating that the main focus is on the economy, improving the lives of citizens and the fight against organized crime and corruption.

During his speech, Berisha promised greater support for families, guaranteeing payments for children and full payment of maternity leave for mothers.

Another focus of the program, according to the leading democrat, will be young people. He said that the DP aims to create the conditions for young people to build their lives and careers in Albania, through policies on education, employment and housing.

Regarding the agricultural sector, Berisha accused the government of abandoning farmers and promised a significant increase in subsidies.

Speaking about the economy, Berisha declared that the DP will remain the political force of low taxes and a market economy. He accused the government of creating a “narco-economy” that is harming Albanian production and exports.

The opposition leader also spoke at length about the fight against organized crime, stating that there will be "zero tolerance" towards criminal groups and officials associated with them. He said that one of the first steps will be to purge law enforcement structures of individuals associated with crime and strengthen the role of the police in the fight against criminal groups.

Excerpt from Berisha's speech:

First, we will give a decisive response to extreme poverty in this blessed country, a country with natural resources and other assets greater than any other country for the kilometers it has. So let's return to those who count the bite. The living wage, doubling and tripling pensions, with an objective, I'm not saying that we will catch up with Germany, that we will catch up with Italy or France, but I say that we will come out on top of the region for salaries and pensions because we have been, because we were.

So, our vision is the best-paid Albanians and I guarantee all salaried workers in this country that they will be paid better than everyone else in this region.

I assure the little ones of Albania that today in this drug regime, in this authoritarian dictatorship, the most numerous and most innocent victims are those who will be given the first and greatest care. That with child support and the minimum living wage, no child will be threatened in Albania. No! Not only children, but mothers, half-pay ends with maternity leave. Full pay for the entire period. Albanian youth, the DP with its program has only one goal and among the most important, their dream to be built in Albania.

Por që ëndrra e tyre të ndërtohet në Shqipëri, ata duan studime, duan punësim, duan strehim. Ne zotohemi në përparësi absolute në qëndrimin ndaj tyre. Fermerët, që tani braktisin pasivisht fermat e tyre nga falimentimi, i garantoj se ata të cilët japin 20 përqind të prodhimit të këtij vendi dhe marrin vetëm 0.19 përqind sikur të ishin skllevër të shekullit të 19-të, do kenë mbështetje dhe subvencionet e shtetit të nivelit më të lartë, katër-pesë herë më të larta të nivelit më të lartë që ekzistojnë në rajon.

Pa dyshim, ekonomia në vizionin tonë do të jetë themeli i programit. Miq, ne themeluam në Shqipëri ekonominë e tregut. Ne bëmë shumë gjëra për lirinë e tregut. Ne jemi forca politike e barrës fiskale më të ulët në Evropë dhe do mbetemi të tillë. Ne do shkatërrojmë ekonominë e tregut dhe do rivendosim ekonominë e tregut. Edi Rama me lobistët e tij të korruptuar përpiqet ta qortojë, pse flasim për narkoekonomi, pse flasim për narkoshtet.

Cilitdo shqiptari të ndershëm, cilitdo miku të Shqipërisë i kërkoj njerëzisht të kontrollojë, në cilin shtet në planet euro dhe dollari kanë thyer qafën më shumë, kanë rënë për tokë më shumë? Mund të mendojnë se ajo është Kolumbia. Mund të mendojnë se është Peruja. Jo, apo Meksika. Jo, jo! Shqipëria! Shqipëria e Rama-Dushkut, ka një rënie 32% të euros dhe dollarit. Një goditje fatale e eksporteve, kurse Meksika e ka vetëm 17%.

Ne insistuam dhe u thamë miqve, partnerëve tanë se Edi Rama zgjedhjet i ka shndërruar në farsë. Dhe ua faktuam! Janë dy libra me 2500 faqe, me fakte, dokumente, video që tregojnë shëmtinë e farsës elektorale në Shqipëri. Ne nuk tërhiqemi! Ne do u faktojmë miqve tanë, se kjo është një narkodiktaturë, se ekonomia e Shqipërisë po shkatërrohet nga droga, se treguesi i ndërtimit, tre herë më i lartë se mesatarja e Bashkimit Europian, është tregues i kokainës, se kullat që shihni në Tiranë janë monumente të shëmtuara të kokainës dhe drogës. Pra, edhe këtë betejë do e fitojmë ne!

Dhe këtë betejë nuk e bëjmë vetëm për veten tonë. Jo! Këtë betejë e bëjmë për çdo qytetar të lirë të Europës dhe të botës. Po po! Shqipëria është eksportuesi kryesor i krimit. Është eksportuesi i parë i kanabisit. Shqiptarët e Edi Ramës, të lidhur me Edi Ramën, janë transportuesit kryesorë të kokainës nga Europa... nga Amerika Latine në Europë. Ata kontrollojnë portet e Durrësit, kontrollojnë vendin. Ata marrin vendime për gjithçka. Zero tolerancë! Me forcën e ligjit do ta shtypim krimin siç e kemi provuar. Kudo që ndodhet, në Tiranë, në Shqipëri, në Ekuador, në Bolivi, në të katër anët, në Britaninë e Madhe, në Gjermani dhe kudo!

These gangs, these criminals will be held accountable for the heinous crime they commit against Albania and other nations. Have we proven this? We have proven this. In previous governments, in 18 months, we brought the bloodiest gangs to justice. That fate awaits them! Yesterday, a friend of mine, a well-known American publicist with very special interests in the region, told me... How are you going to do it? How are we going to do it? Let's say it, I said it. In 2005, we declared zero tolerance for crime as our main commitment. And of course, journalists and citizens asked me, how are you going to fight these gangs?

And I answered them, with the police! And now if they ask me again, with the police I say again. At that time, I tell my friend, three or four senior police officers asked me for a meeting. They came to my office and said to me, Mr. Prime Minister, we coped very well with these bandits. But we have only one request. Order, I tell them. When we start the battle, no one should hinder us.

Along with the bandits will go the politicians who made them like this. Yes! The house will be cleaned! The house will be cleaned! And I give you my word that after we clean the police from drug traffickers, you will see how many brave and courageous men and women there are among them, who are ready to take down these criminals wherever they are and the criminals with collars who inspire them. Our renewal is the fight against corruption. We will do everything to implement... the law on conflict of interest that Edi Rama has excluded. We will do everything for transparency. /CNA
