Berisha: Patronageists, hated character in IBAR report

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, gave a statement to the media after the meeting held with the Venice Commission delegation.

Berisha said that the meeting was good, while adding that the delegation is in Albania to receive the opinions of political parties in order to provide their recommendations.

"We expressed our opinion that it is necessary for the institutions of Review of Complaints to have a kind of independence and objectivity towards the law. The meeting was very good. They came to get the opinions of the political parties to give recommendations that have always been useful but have been rejected by the government, " said Berisha.

Berisha further stated that regarding the draft proposed to the Electoral Reform Commission, the Venice Commission has not yet made recommendations. He added that only the OSCE/ODIHR has made recommendations, which he said he fully supports.

"ODIHR has brought excellent recommendations and I fully support them. It has made an excellent report and of course we await the recommendations of the Venice Commission. I am not aware of any kind of agreement between the co-chairs of the Commission," said the chief democrat.

Among other things, he also spoke about the IBAR report, which said that "patronage networks were stigmatized." But according to him, this report was not given the attention it deserved in the media.

"This problem is negotiable, since the OSCE/ODIHR itself has the special merit of stigmatizing the political sphere for elections, the patronage networks. These became hated characters in the IBAR report. In this report, the patronage networks were stigmatized. Censoring international reports that stigmatize the government is a reprehensible act of the free speech mafia. The report has not been in any media. No vital parts have been read. For the first time, the patronage networks are stigmatized ," Berisha said. /CNA
