Rama in Korça: PS has raised Albania's head, right with the national

Prime Minister Edi Rama was present this Thursday at the SP's 35th anniversary event in Korça.

In his speech, Rama focused on the events of May 26, 1996, a time when socialists faced brutal violence, which the socialist leader considered a dramatic moment.

"We celebrate a moment that connects history with the future and I cannot help but repeat that a coincidence brought it together. On May 26, 2026, the socialists faced violence and brutality that put all of Albania in a real sphere facing democracy. A much greater challenge than when the dictatorship was overthrown. The Socialist Party was in a dramatic situation. It was the degraded power of the DP. That date is a dramatic moment. The opposition was regularly violated, there was only one screen, where the opposition was never shown, except for the occasional case when they were covered by the comments of news anchors. It was a brutal regime. You were in the opposition and you could not help but be mistreated day after day," said Rama. 

Rama further highlighted the role and activity of the Socialist Party, which, according to him, is the only fair political force with national interest.

As stated below, regardless of what is said or not said by the opposition, the Socialists will continue working towards the country's membership in the EU.

"The Socialist Party has proven that it is the only one that can be fair with the national interest, with the past, with the world. This is our pride that after a long period of hardship and denigration, we have raised Albania's head and given its name a different sound than it had until a few years ago. Now we have entered another phase of membership and negotiations. What they did not say and what they will not say, but let them say what they want. We say what we do and we do what we say", said Rama. /CNA
