Albania-EU/Kos Intergovernmental Conference praises SPAK: Flagship of

European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, delivered her speech at the joint press conference, following the conclusion of the Albania-EU intergovernmental conference.

In his speech, Kos said that today's conference is an achievement to be congratulated.

Focusing on Albania's achievements in justice, Marta Kos highlighted the creation of SPAK, which she described as the flagship anti-corruption institution. Kos stated that SPAK has proven that it can deliver results and become the most trusted institution in Albania.

Further, in his speech, Kos said that the approval of the closing milestones by EU member states enables Albania to move forward on the path towards integration.

“ This is a commendable achievement. More than 10 years of work in this area has been successful. Decisive steps have been taken to ensure that all Albanians have access to due process. We have seen the rise of SPAK, the flagship anti-corruption institution in Albania that has proven that it can deliver results and become the most trusted institution in Albania. Having achieved this key milestone, today we are also setting the final terms of EU membership. Member States have set the final milestones for EU membership.

This makes it possible for Albania to move forward towards closing the chapters. This is the moment to celebrate, but also to intensify the work. We will continue to support Albania's work and vision. The closing milestones are a clear signal to Albania that progress is expected. We rely on Albania to intensify reforms, in cooperation with civil society and citizens. Now is the time to meet the expectations of Albanian citizens and intensify harmonization with the EU. We have a long way to go, but it will come very soon. Let's get back to work immediately ", said Kos.
