Zhupa meets with Italian senator/ Focus on strengthening relations and the

Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa held a meeting with Italian Senator Raffaele De Rosa.

Through a post on social media, Zhupa writes that during the meeting he talked with the Italian senator about strengthening relations between the two parliaments and the important role of the Albanian diaspora in Italy.

Zhupa states that during the meeting, the need to expand economic and tourism cooperation was also discussed.

It was a pleasure to meet with Italian Senator Raffaele De Rosa, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense, as well as the Committee on Human Rights in the Italian Senate.

We discussed the strengthening of relations between our two parliaments, the important role of the Albanian diaspora in Italy, and the continued support that Italy has given to Albania on the path of European integration. The history, friendship, and solidarity between our two nations remain a strong bridge of cooperation, for which Albanians are particularly grateful.

We also discussed the need to expand economic, cultural and tourist cooperation, bringing our institutions and citizens closer together. The possibility of opening a consulate in Padua, as well as the need to increase the number of honorary consuls. Teaching Albanian to Albanian children has been carried out by associations there, but it needs more institutional support.

Another important issue was the diaspora vote. The experience of the last elections showed that there are many problems that need to be addressed to guarantee a safe, reliable and functional process for Albanians abroad. The Italian model of diaspora voting is an experience that can be studied and discussed by the Special Commission on Electoral Reform, with the aim of improving the representation and participation of Albanians wherever they live.
