Security Forum/Peleshi: Albania, a key factor in NATO

The Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi, participated in the Security Forum "The US-Europe Partnership and the Undisputed Role of NATO", organized by the Parliament of Albania, with the participation of parliamentarians, former parliamentarians and personalities from the US Congress, the European Parliament, the parliaments of NATO member countries, the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, as well as countries in the Region.

In his speech, the Speaker of the Parliament emphasized that Albania's foreign and security policy is based on several main pillars, including: membership in the European Union, the strategic partnership with the United States of America, and active contribution to NATO.

Peleshi said that our country is moving rapidly towards EU membership and that the Parliament has intensified work to align legislation with European standards.

 

Speaking about relations with the US and the role of NATO, the Speaker of the Parliament underlined Albania's commitment as a reliable ally in the Alliance.

In this context, he said that Albania is preparing to host the NATO Summit in 2027 in Tirana, the Alliance's first summit in the Western Balkans.
