The National Assembly of the Democratic Party of Albania approves the statutory

The National Assembly of the Democratic Party of Albania has approved the statutory changes of this political force.

The changes include strengthening the representation of the diaspora in all party bodies and on the lists of candidates for deputies in the Albanian Parliament.

They also include strengthening the role and representation of women and girls in the governing bodies of the Democratic Party and the lists of candidates for deputies.

Another change approved was the evaluation and selection of candidates for the Primary process by a committee composed of Civil Society and academics. The changes take effect immediately. 

Approved statutory amendments:

-Strengthening the diaspora and its real representation. The diaspora should have up to 15% representation in all party bodies and in the lists of candidates for deputies

-Empowerment of women and girls. From the minimum set by law, the DP statute stipulates that their representation in all DP bodies and lists for deputies should increase to 40%.

-The selection of Primary candidates should be evaluated by representatives of Civil Society and academics.  

-Strengthening the relationship between DP branches and local elected officials.

-Recognition of equal status for all party partner organizations. /CNA
