Appeal of results by the DP/Nuri: Electoral farce is the most appropriate term

The legal representative of the Democratic Party, Franc Nuri, said today that what the DP is seeking is to establish and prove the electoral farce. Invited to a television appearance, Nuri commented on the process undertaken by the DP to appeal the election results in all districts.

Nuri listed voter intimidation, misuse of public resources, public assets, roads, and electoral asphalt as arguments that prove that the state machinery was engaged in the campaign.

Nuri stated that electoral farce is the most appropriate term that can be used at this moment for the situation that has befallen Albania.

"Last week, the announcement of the results tables for these elections by Ilirjan Celibashi, head of the CEC, was completed, and from the moment the results were announced, the 5-day deadline for complaints began. Therefore, we started the complaint in the Kukës district because it was the first result to be announced, on time and the relevant deadline for complaints had to be met. Later, other districts that were announced were Berat, Korça, Dibra and Shkodra.

A few minutes ago, as you said, we filed, in the CEC protocol, the complaint for Berat, for the Berat district, where, just like for the Kukës district, we request the total invalidity of the elections in the entire district and their repetition as a result of the finding of the invalidity of the elections.

I confirm the same thing to you that we will file within today for the Korça region, we are also completing the relevant complaint there. What we are asking for is for the electoral farce to be ascertained and proven.

The majority of Albanian citizens are aware, I believe, that on May 11 there were no elections, but they were at least votes, in the sense that we were dealing with an electoral farce, which includes any kind of vote manipulation, vote manipulation that can be expressed in other words.
The term electoral farce is a term that is recognized both at the political and global level and is the most appropriate term that can be used at this moment for the case that has happened to Albania.

These were not elections, the entire state machinery was engaged not only on election day, not only during the counting, but was engaged 6 months before the elections. You are all witnesses to what happened with the campaign in quotes of the registration of citizens from the diaspora. The arguments for the DP's request for invalidity are the use of the state and power in favor of the SP.

Other arguments are: voter intimidation, misuse of public resources, public assets, roads, electoral asphalt, electoral ballast through public investments. Another argument is what we have said on other occasions: forgiveness of fines, other various fiscal advantages given to large segments of society. All of these have influenced the elections, in addition to these, we also have other more specific arguments for each region", said Nuri. /CNA
