Von der Leyen: EU Commission working on package to support Arctic security

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated this Tuesday that the EU Commission is working on a package to support Arctic security.

In her speech at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Von der Leyen said that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Denmark and Greenland is non-negotiable and that work is being done to increase security in the far north.

"Arctic security can only be achieved together, and that is why the proposed additional tariffs are a mistake, especially between early allies. The European Union and the United States agreed to a trade deal last July, and in politics as in business - a deal is a deal. Our plunge into a downward spiral would only help the adversaries we are both so committed to keeping off the strategic landscape, so our response will be steadfast, united and proportionate," Von der Leyen said./CNA
