How did the candidates who had the most votes taken away in the recount react?

At a time when Kosovo has boasted and been praised by others for holding fair, democratic, and free elections, suspicions of vote manipulation, particularly within political entities, have prompted a full recount of votes for the December 28 snap elections.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced on Monday that it would recount all votes, after previously deciding to count only a third of them.

An investigation by the Commission had found discrepancies in the votes for the candidates for deputies, and during the partial count it was confirmed that the differences in the votes are large.

As a result, prosecutors have begun collecting data regarding suspicions of possible vote manipulation, while the CEC has dismissed political representatives in its municipal commission in Prizren, where suspicions of manipulation are high.

All of this has caused many reactions in the country at various levels, including from some candidates themselves who, after the partial recount, had tens to thousands of votes taken away from them.

Among them are candidates from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Self-Determination Movement (LVV), and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK).

What is happening during the vote recount process by the CEC is serious and concerning. This situation raises reasonable doubts about the integrity of the count and recount and directly undermines citizens' trust in the electoral process.

I do not and have not had any influence on this process and I completely distance myself from any misuse or manipulation that may have been done in my name or to the detriment of the free vote.

The State Prosecutor's Office has a legal and moral obligation to launch full, independent and professional investigations. At the same time, the CEC, as an independent constitutional body, must be publicly accountable and provide clear evidence of the legality and correctness of its actions. Institutional independence does not imply a lack of accountability.

I demand transparency, investigation and accountability. Mistakes or manipulation of this level are the responsibility of the state.

In the parliamentary elections of December 28, 2025, the free will of citizens was severely violated and my political and national dignity was directly attacked.

From what I saw in the recount, my votes have been unfairly inflated, with my name being used for unacceptable electoral manipulation. This action constitutes not only a legal violation, but also a serious moral and political act.

I categorically reject any vote that does not stem from the free will of the citizen.

Nuk kam hyrë në politikë për të fituar me mashtrime, por për të fituar me besim. Nuk kam nevojë për vota të vjedhura, sepse respektoj votën e ndershme më shumë se çdo rezultat.

Mu cenua integriteti im dhe i shtetit demokratik, [personat] e papërgjegjshëm të vihen para përgjegjësisë.

Sivjet bëhen 20 vjet të karrierës sime pulitke, e përkushtuar të kontribuoj në ndërtimin e shtetit tonë. 20 vjet të jetës sime kam punuar me profesionalizëm, parime të drejta, kompetencë dhe integritet, i cili për herë të parë në jetën time po më cenohet nga individë që procesin zgjedhor e kanë menaxhuar me papërgjegjësi dhe agjenda të panjohura për mua dhe pa dijeninë time.

Tjetërsimin e votës e konsideroj krimin më të madh që mund t'i ndodhë demokracisë dhe rrugës sonë për një shoqëri të drejtë. Kjo nuk mund asesi të falet, dhe do të kërkoj përgjegjësi nga institucionet e drejtësisë për dëmin e shkaktuar jo vetëm ndaj integritetit tim personal e politik, por edhe të integritetit të procesit më të shenjtë që e ka vendi ynë, atij zgjedhor.

Dëshiroj të bëj të ditur me përgjegjësi të plotë se çdo rritje e votave në emrin tim është bërë pa dashjen dhe pa dijeni timen. Unë nuk kam kërkuar, inkurajuar apo asistuar në asnjë formë devijimin e vullnetit të qytetarëve.

Kjo ngritje artificiale e votave nuk përfaqëson mbështetjen time reale dhe as parimet e mia njerëzore.

Përmes këtij operacioni, i cili nuk mund të cilësohet ndryshe veçse si kriminal, më është njollosur personaliteti dhe karriera. Përfshirja e emrit tim në skema të tilla manipuluese është një goditje e rëndë për dinjitetin tim dhe besueshmërinë që kam ndërtuar me vite para elektoratit.

Motivin dhe qëllimin e vërtetë prapa këtij operacioni kriminal duhet ta vërtetojnë institucionet e drejtësisë.

Deklaroj se jam plotësisht i gatshëm të bashkëpunoj me Policinë, Prokurorinë dhe çdo organ tjetër të drejtësisë për të zbardhur këtë skandal deri në fund.

Unë si kandidat për deputet dhe si kryetar i degës së LDK-së në Prizren distancohem tërësisht nga kushdo që ka marrë guximin të tjetërsojë vullnetin e qytetarëve të komunës sonë.

Kemi dyshimet tona që ky skenar ka qenë i mirë organizuar dhe ka përshirë të gjithë kandidatët dhe të gjitha partitë politike për ta balancuar dhe shpërndarë abuzimin tek të gjithë, në mënyrë që të mos identifikohet lehtë si problem.

Por këtë tashmë i mbetet ta vërtetojnë organet e drejtësisë.

Po e përsërisë atë që e kam thënë edhe për zgjedhjet e 9 shkurtit, se KQZ, Prokuroria dhe institucionet tjera kompetente, në kuadër të kompetencave ligjore dhe kushtetuese, duhet t’i ndërmarrin të gjitha veprimet që ta rikthejnë rregullsinë e procesit dhe me këtë abuzuesit të marrin dënimin e merituar.

Rinumërimi i votave në gjithë Kosovën, është e vetmja mënyrë që zbardh të vërtetën dhe rikthen besimin e të gjithëve për këtë proces elektoral.

Më fyejnë e më terrorizojnë edhe votat e shtuara, edhe votat e hequra. Çdo manipulim i votës është shkelje e vullnetit qytetar dhe dëmtim i demokracisë.

Beyond the reactions of these party figures, experts on electoral issues believe that this is the most serious violation that has been made to the electoral process in Kosovo since 2010.

The Office of the Chief State Prosecutor announced that the national coordinator for elections, prosecutor Laura Pula, has requested the chief prosecutors of all basic prosecution offices to begin collecting the necessary information and evidence in all municipalities where the vote recount process has been completed to prove the commission of any criminal offense related to the electoral process./REL
