The Ministry of Finance says that only certain categories of pensioners are

The Ministry of Finance announced that only certain categories of Kosovo pensioners are exempt from the obligation to regularly appear at pension offices to prove that they are alive, so that their monthly payments are not stopped.

In a Facebook announcement, the Ministry said that beneficiaries of contributory, partially contributory, and family pensions are not required to report to pension offices every six months.

"Pensioners of other categories continue to have an obligation to report according to the legislation in force," the announcement states.

Pensioners of other categories - including the basic age pension, which benefits every Kosovar who has reached the age of 65, regardless of whether they have been employed or not - must continue to report to pension offices every six months.

The ministry said it is taking ongoing steps to facilitate services for pensioners.

"This includes mobile teams providing home services to those who cannot physically appear, in all seven regions of Kosovo, simplifying procedures for paraplegic, tetraplegic and blind people, eliminating unnecessary and tedious reassessment processes," the announcement says.

This decision comes a month after the Supreme Court repealed several articles of an administrative instruction on notification, suspension of payments, and return of funds procedures.

In its decision, the Supreme Court found that the law does not oblige the pensioner-contribution payer to report every 6 months.

Until the court's decision, pensioners of all categories were required to physically appear at pension offices every six months to prove they were alive in order to continue receiving their monthly payments.

The old-age pension in Kosovo is 150 euros, while the contributory pension ranges from 218 to 318 euros per month, depending on the level of education. /REL
