Vance warns: If Iran continues to attack ships, we will completely destroy them

United States Vice President JD Vance has stated that Iran is not respecting the memorandum of understanding reached with Washington and warned that the US will react forcefully if the attacks on ships continue.

Speaking at an event in Milwaukee, Vance said the deal between the parties was clear: The United States would lift the blockade, while Iran would stop attacking ships. According to him, that is not happening.

"The agreement we reached was simple: we will lift the blockade if they stop shooting at the ships. But if they continue to shoot, we will respond and we will do so more forcefully than ever before. They said they would stop the attacks, but just 24 hours ago they started shooting at the ships again ," Vance said.

He added that the US administration's position remains unchanged.

" If they attack the ships, we will hit them with all our might. It's that simple ," he declared.

Asked about recent developments regarding tensions with Iran and President Donald Trump's warnings, Vance said the president "has many options available," but stressed that the primary objective is to guarantee freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

"I won't say exactly what's going to happen tonight, but the president has been very clear: The Strait of Hormuz must remain open. That means oil and gas must continue to flow to markets. If Iran tries to close it, there will be a response from the U.S. military. It's that simple," Vance said. /CNA
