Erdogan "pulls the ear" of European allies: They should take more

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared at the NATO summit that European allies must increase their responsibility for the security and defense of the continent, warning that they must move away from decision-making that, according to him, could weaken the alliance.

"We have asked European allies to take more responsibility for the defense of the continent. We must move away from decision-making that weakens the alliance," Erdo?an said.

He emphasized that strengthening transatlantic security requires cooperation among all allies and opposed, as he put it, the exclusion of allied countries or the creation of divisions within NATO.

Speaking about the war in Ukraine, Erdogan said he shares the same position as US President Donald Trump on the need to achieve peace, but underlined that support for Ukraine must remain a priority.

"We benefit from communication channels with Russia," the Turkish president declared, appreciating the importance of maintaining diplomatic dialogue.

Erdogan also spoke about developments in the Middle East, expressing appreciation for President Trump's efforts to resolve the crisis in Iran. He added that Turkey is ready to contribute to security in the Gulf of Hormuz, including operations to clear the area of ??mines./ CNA
