PDK reaffirms its mission as a state-forming and state-building force, always committed to the public interest and citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
PDK expresses deep concern about the current institutional blockade that is delaying the establishment of new institutions, more than 100 days after the elections.
The blockade by the winning coalition has caused political uncertainty and great harm to the civic interest. In a spirit of responsibility and constructiveness, PDK has proposed concrete solutions to unblock the situation.

Political Declaration of the Steering Council of the Democratic Party of Kosovo
Pristina, June 4, 2025
At today's meeting of the Steering Council of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, this political declaration was discussed and approved, reflecting the official position of the PDK regarding the latest political and state developments in the country. The Democratic Party of Kosovo reaffirms its identity and mission as a state-forming and state-building force, which with high institutional and national commitment always acts in the service of the public interest and the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, especially in the most challenging moments for the country, such as the one we are currently going through.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo remains committed to being:
• A factor of state stability,
• A bearer of a vision for the future, and
• A strong voice of every citizen who seeks development, dignity and a prosperous state.
1. Assessment of the February 9 elections
PDK expresses deep gratitude to the citizens of Kosovo for their great trust and strong support in the February 9 general elections. At the same time, it thanks with extraordinary respect every activist, structure, official, candidate for MP and the candidate for Prime Minister, Bedri Hamza, for the commitment and dedication shown. The achieved result, around 200 thousand votes, represents a significant electoral increase. This strong trust from the citizens is clear evidence that we are on the right path of political growth and empowerment, and obliges us to move forward with determination, dedication and responsibility towards our mission to build a developed, democratic and just state.
PDK has been, is and is working to remain the main political force in the country, with new energy and a clear vision for the future.
2. Current political situation and institutional blockade
PDK will be committed to identifying and selecting the most prepared and representative candidates for mayors, in full compliance with party, legal and constitutional criteria. These candidates will be bearers of our vision for local development, good governance and quality service to citizens, values ??that have been proven over the last four years.
PDK's strategic objectives in this process are:
• Reconfirming trust in municipalities currently governed by PDK,
• Winning in other municipalities, through a new political offer and vision.
5. Developments in the Specialist Chambers in The Hague
PDK expresses deep concern about the recent decision of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, which rejected the request for protection in freedom of Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selim, despite the fact that the Prosecution has completed the presentation of evidence and witnesses since April. This decision constitutes a clear violation of fundamental human rights, guaranteed by the Constitution of Kosovo and the European Convention on Human Rights.
Keeping them, together with former President Hashim Thaçi, in detention for more than four and a half years, without a final decision, not only contradicts the fundamental principles of law, but also constitutes unfair and arbitrary treatment, which should not be tolerated in any court with democratic standards. This practice not only violates the dignity and individual rights of the accused, but also undermines trust in international justice and raises serious questions about the motives and approach of this institution.
At this stage of the process, the defense in freedom should not be seen as a privilege, but as a fundamental right. PDK calls on the Specialist Chambers to review their approach and act in accordance with Kosovo legislation, international law, the principles of justice and equality, and not to be guided by political perceptions or historical prejudices.
