Ukrainian attack on Tupolev Tu-95/New satellite images show damaged Russian aircraft

New color satellite images from Planet Labs revealing the extent of damage suffered by Russian bases from the Ukrainian drone attack are coming to light.

The images show the Belaya base in southern Russia, about 4,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. In one of them, at least three Tupolev Tu-95 aircraft, Russian long-range strategic bombers, are seen, which are said to be badly damaged.

According to the initial assessment of analysts at Janes, the aircraft is considered likely to have been completely destroyed.

At the end of the runway, other bombers of various types can be seen to have been hit. Although the full extent of the damage remains unclear, the effects of the attack on the surrounding area are evident.

Damage analysis will continue with additional satellite imagery from this and other Russian bases. /CNA
