Former Kosovo MP detained by Serbian authorities / Kurti: Serbia does not want

Former Kosovo MP Gramos Agusholli has been detained by Serbian authorities at the Merdara border crossing. The news was announced by Agusholli himself in a status on social media.

In his status, the former MP writes that he was stopped at the border crossing while on his way to Slovenia and faced a tense situation. Further, Agusholli thanks the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Kurti and all those involved in the issue of his release.

" Today, on my way to Ljubljana, Slovenia, I was stopped by Serbian authorities at the Merdara border crossing."

"A sudden stop, without any clear reason and not at all easy, especially when traveling with family and facing unnecessary tension. I want to inform you that we are now well and have continued on our way, but I cannot say that this experience was easy! Facing this reality, even in 2025, is painful and disappointing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who were concerned, who wrote to me, who also contacted my family. A special thank you to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, the Kosovo liaison office in Belgrade, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, as well as all those who were committed and contributed to my release ," the former MP writes.

A reaction to this has also come from Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who in a status on social networks writes that this proves that Serbia does not want normal relations with its neighbor.

Kurti further writes that such actions are aimed at intimidating the citizens of Kosovo and demands condemnation of these acts by internationals.

" Serbia does not miss an opportunity to prove that it does not want nor does it aim for normal, neighborly relations. The detention of former Kosovo Assembly member Gramos Agusholli by Serbian state authorities at the border crossing in Merdare for hours is the latest proof. Such practices that are used continuously with the aim of mistreating and intimidating our citizens should be loudly and unanimously condemned by the international community.

"I congratulate our institutions and partner states for the quick and successful response. I wish Gramos a good stay in Ljubljana ," Kurti writes./ CNA
