Kurti: The "Defender Europe 25" exercise, also with the Kosovo Forces,

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has shared the news of the Kosovo Security Forces' involvement in the "Defender Europe 25" exercise. In a post on social media, Kurti stated that during this exercise, KSF units will conduct offensive, defensive and stability combat operations.

Kurti emphasizes that this exercise is of great importance for increasing interoperability with the armies of partner countries.

"Defender Europe 25 is the largest exercise the United States Army conducts on the European continent.

Defender Europe 25 this year extends to three geographical areas of Europe: Northern Europe, Central Europe and Southeastern Europe, where our country is also included. In these three areas, 25,000 military personnel from 29 NATO countries and partner countries will be engaged in the exercises that will take place within the framework of Defender 25.

In the Southeast European area, which includes Kosovo, 12,000 military personnel from 19 countries will participate.

The Republic of Kosovo will be the host country among 18 host countries and the Kosovo Security Force will participate with approximately 1,000 troops in the exercises that will take place in Kosovo, Albania, Croatia and North Macedonia.

The most important feature for us in Exercise Defender Europe 25 is that the Republic of Kosovo is the country selected by the United States Army to establish the command of the 28th Infantry Division. From the KSF base at Gjakova Airport, this American tactical command will lead all brigades in the Southeast Europe region.

In addition to the 28th Division command at the Babaj i Boka Training Area, KSF units will also be joined by military units of the Iowa Guard, units and personnel from the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Croatia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria.

The part of the exercise taking place in Kosovo will last until June 9 and will take place in the western part of our country.

During this exercise, KSF units will conduct offensive, defensive and stability combat operations. The exercise will also include live fire firing with weapons systems purchased and continuing to be purchased by the Government of Kosovo for our army.

"This exercise is of great importance for increasing the interoperability of our force with the armies of partner countries and demonstrates the increased trust that the United States and partners have in the Government of the Republic, the Ministry of Defense and, above all, in the professionalism of our army. Kosovo is proving that it is capable of hosting and organizing complex exercises on its territory that require very high-level planning, organization and support," Kurti wrote. /CNA
