Retaliatory overnight attack in Israel/ Iran hits Tel Aviv with nuclear warheads

Iran fired missiles with nuclear warheads at Tel Aviv overnight, in what state television called revenge for the assassination of security chief Ali Larijani by Israel. Two people were killed when their apartment building was hit by shrapnel.

Gulf Arab states have also faced renewed Iranian missile and drone attacks. After Hezbollah continued rocket attacks on northern Israel overnight, an Israeli airstrike caused a large explosion in central Beirut.

The Israeli military has also struck southern and eastern Lebanon as it intensifies its campaign against the Iran-backed armed group.

As the US and Israel continue to attack Iran, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, has reiterated his call for maximum restraint to avoid a nuclear accident.

On Tuesday evening, a shell hit near the Bushehr nuclear power plant, but there were no reports of damage. /CNA
