Despite fighting and inflation, Iran increases minimum wage by 60%

The Iranian regime has announced a 60% increase in the minimum wage, at a time when the country is in the midst of ongoing fighting and record inflation.

Iran's Labor Minister, Ahmad Meydari, confirmed the change, increasing the monthly minimum from 103 million rials (€67.5) to 166 million rials (€109).

The measure, designed to help offset high living costs, comes months after protests sparked by economic hardship and amid intensified sanctions and worsening conditions due to the ongoing war with Israel and the US.

Protests that erupted in Iran earlier this year led to a harsh crackdown by the Revolutionary Guard, resulting in a high death toll of at least 36,000. /CNA
