A Lebanese soldier has been killed and four others wounded in an Israeli attack in the south of the country, the Lebanese army announced.
The Israeli military has also reacted to the case, announcing that they have launched an investigation, adding that their actions are only against Hezbollah and not the Lebanese.
"We are aware of allegations that a number of Lebanese army soldiers were injured in an airstrike by the Defense Army in the Faroun area in southern Lebanon. The incident is currently under investigation. We affirm that the Defense Army is acting against the terrorist Hezbollah and not against the Lebanese army or Lebanese citizens ," IDF spokeswoman Ella Waweya said on social media.
The Israeli army has been carrying out military operations in southern Lebanon and the capital Beirut against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group.
While it has mainly carried out attacks in these regions, it has increased ground operations on the Lebanese border in recent days, confirming that additional troops had been deployed earlier. /CNA
