The UN World Food Programme has warned that another 45 million people could face hunger if the conflict in the Middle East continues until June.
According to Carl Skau, deputy executive director of the UN World Food Program, these people could suffer from hunger due to rising prices.
"If the conflict in the Middle East continues until June, another 45 million people could suffer from acute hunger due to rising prices," Skau told a press conference in Geneva.
" This would drive global hunger levels to an all-time record and is a terrifying prospect ," he said, with 319 million people worldwide currently suffering from acute food insecurity.
Skau said transportation costs have increased by 18% since the US-Israeli attacks on Iran began on February 28. /CNA
